Open Open finds time for you and your friends to get together. This page explains what information we use, why, and the choices you have. If anything here is unclear, email us at openopen.plans@gmail.com.
What we collect
- Your account: your name, email address and profile photo.
- What you tell us: when you're free, the kinds of plans you like, your yes or no on suggested plans, and addresses you add for in-person plans.
- Your friends and plans: who you're connected with on Open Open and the plans you make together.
- Your device: what we need to send you notifications, plus basic records of how the app is used, so we can fix problems and improve it.
How we use it
To suggest plans with your friends, book the plans you both say yes to, send you notifications and emails about them, and keep the app working. We don't sell your information, and we don't use it for advertising.
Google Calendar and Contacts
You can choose to connect your Google account. If you do, we ask for read-only access to your Google Calendar and Google Contacts. We never change or delete anything in your Google account.
- Why: to work out who you see and how often, so we can suggest the friends you'd like to catch up with.
- What we keep: a summary for each person, such as their name, email, how many times you've met, when you last met and a few example meeting names. We keep a copy of what we read from Google for up to 30 days to fix problems and improve the feature, then delete it.
- AI: when you ask us to sort your contacts, we send each person's name, email, meeting counts and a few meeting names to our AI provider, Anthropic, to label how you know them. Anthropic doesn't use this information to train its models.
- People: no one at Open Open reads your Google information, except to fix a problem you've reported, with your permission, or where the law requires it.
- Disconnecting: you can disconnect Google in the app at any time. We then stop reading your calendar and contacts. To delete what we've already kept, email us.
Open Open's use and transfer to any other app of information received from Google APIs will adhere to the Google API Services User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements.
What your friends see
Friends you're connected with see your name, photo, and plans that include them. When you both say yes to a plan, we send a calendar invite to both of you from our Google account (openopen.plans@gmail.com), which shows both of your names and email addresses.
Services we use
We use a small number of companies to run Open Open. They only get what they need to do their job:
- Supabase: stores the app's data, in Canada.
- Google: calendar invites, and address search for plan locations.
- Anthropic: the AI step described above.
- Resend: sends our emails.
- Expo and Cloudflare: host the app and this website.
- Your browser's notification service: delivers notifications.
Deleting your data
Email openopen.plans@gmail.com from your account's email address and tell us what you'd like deleted, from your Google information to your whole account. We'll take care of it and confirm by email.
Changes
If we change this policy, we'll update the date at the top. If a change is significant, we'll let you know in the app or by email.
